I been apart of #teamblackberry since 2008 when I got my first one, the red Blackberry Pearl 8100. I am currently using the 8320 Curve model and can’t wait until I can upgrade to a new (new to me since tend to buy the last model that on the market before a new one launches) one. Hey even my siblings are #teamblackberry, so I am not switching anytime soon. So here are my five favorite Blackberry apps.
1. WordPress for Blackberry
I really like this app. I carry a moleskine to jot down ideas but sometimes you don’t have the luxury of space taking public transportation in NYC. This app comes in handy and makes me productive while out and about. I am even writing this post from my Blackberry. With their latest update I can do even more with the app. So if you a wordpress blogger (free or self-hosted) you need to check it out. The best part of the app is I can manage multiple blogs all from my phone.
2. Gmail
Another great app for being productive on the go, Gmail. I have multiple gmail accounts and I can read, write and send from any of them. Gmail is really good at catching spam but sometimes one maybe slip through. So when I am away from my laptop for a few days, I use to this app to get rid of any spam and skim through my emails. So when I am back at my desk I only see the important emails that I need to reply to. Sometimes I will reply directly from the phone.
3. Ubertwitter
Ubertwitter is a twitter app for Blackberry. It the best one I used so far. I love that I can manage multiple accounts, you just can’t tweet from the at the same time. A recent update to the app has some nice features such as changing the color scheme. At first I choose my favorite color red but it was little to bright for me, so I switch to purple. I do have Twitter for Blackberry on my phone. I use it once and while but I am really waiting for Hootsuite App for Blackberry. I wonder if it going to be anything like it’s web version.
4. Foursquare
I love checking in when I am out and about. Earning badges and seeing what discount I may get. Usually I just get notified that I am near a Starbucks but I don’t drink coffee. However while at dinner during my family reunion trip I check in at the restaurant and got a discount. Well technically, the waitress didn’t know anything about foursquare but the manager was so nice and apply the code to our bill and we got a free appetizer.
5. BBM
Blackberry Messenger allows me to keep in touch with family and friends. It comes in handy went I want to reach out to my long distance relatives without being suck into Facebook. I also love that I no long have to ask people what’s their pin, we can just scan bar codes if we are near each other. Super cool.
Honorable mentions: Google Talk: Google chat for your phone and Capture It App: take screenshots with your Blackberry
