My Top 5 Favorite Blackberry Apps

I been apart of #teamblackberry since 2008 when I got my first one, the red Blackberry Pearl 8100. I am currently using the 8320 Curve model and can’t wait until I can upgrade to a new (new to me since tend to buy the last model that on the market before a new one launches) one. Hey even my siblings are #teamblackberry, so I am not switching anytime soon. So here are my five favorite Blackberry apps.

1. WordPress for Blackberry
I really like this app. I carry a moleskine to jot down ideas but sometimes you don’t have the luxury of space taking public transportation in NYC. This app comes in handy and makes me productive while out and about. I am even writing this post from my Blackberry. With their latest update I can do even more with the app. So if you a wordpress blogger (free or self-hosted) you need to check it out. The best part of the app is I can manage multiple blogs all from my phone.

2. Gmail
Another great app for being productive on the go, Gmail. I have multiple gmail accounts and I can read, write and send from any of them. Gmail is really good at catching spam but sometimes one maybe slip through. So when I am away from my laptop for a few days, I use to this app to get rid of any spam and skim through my emails. So when I am back at my desk I only see the important emails that I need to reply to. Sometimes I will reply directly from the phone.

3. Ubertwitter
Ubertwitter is a twitter app for Blackberry. It the best one I used so far. I love that I can manage multiple accounts, you just can’t tweet from the at the same time. A recent update to the app has some nice features such as changing the color scheme. At first I choose my favorite color red but it was little to bright for me, so I switch to purple. I do have Twitter for Blackberry on my phone. I use it once and while but I am really waiting for Hootsuite App for Blackberry. I wonder if it going to be anything like it’s web version.

4. Foursquare
I love checking in when I am out and about. Earning badges and seeing what discount I may get. Usually I just get notified that I am near a Starbucks but I don’t drink coffee. However while at dinner during my family reunion trip I check in at the restaurant and got a discount. Well technically, the waitress didn’t know anything about foursquare but the manager was so nice and apply the code to our bill and we got a free appetizer.

5. BBM
Blackberry Messenger allows me to keep in touch with family and friends. It comes in handy went I want to reach out to my long distance relatives without being suck into Facebook. I also love that I no long have to ask people what’s their pin, we can just scan bar codes if we are near each other. Super cool.

Honorable mentions: Google Talk: Google chat for your phone and Capture It App: take screenshots with your Blackberry

What are your favorite Blackberry apps? Or apps you use on your smart phone?

I am waiting for Hootsuite as well! Now I have not gotten into this Foursquare biz and will probably not. Can you talk about how the Gmail app is diff or better than having the email icons on BB?

Yes I was so excited to hear that Hootsuite was coming to Blackberry. I will work on an answer to your question and make it a post.

I absolutely love this post. Empowerment comes not only through words, but also by being equipped with the resources to make you successful.
If you’re a blogger using WordPress, that app is perfect.
Being accessible to clients, family and friends via BBM is also resourceful.

    Awesome post!!

      Thank you.
Having my blackberry had made me very resourceful. It’s like have an office on then go if you need it.

I was about ready to give up on my BB, LOL. But after reading this post, I guess I’ll keep it. I’m definitely paying enough each month so I might as well make good use of it. I only use 2 out of the 5. And didn’t even know about 1, 3, and 4. Thanks.

Yes girl get your money worth with your Blackberry. It seem as though iphone and android phones get they app quicker than BB.

LOVE BBM!!! That’s my favorite app! I can talk to so many people, and when I talk people into getting/keeping a BB, I always sing BBM’s praises! I also love Ubertwitter. It’s so convenient to use. You’re right; the bad thing is we can only access one account at a time. And I tried Twitter for Blackberry and hated it. It also didn’t help that after I downloaded it, it erased all of my contacts. :( And I’m getting used to using WordPress, which is so convenient. I just upgraded to the new Curve, so it works great!
