As I write this I am still recovering from doing the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk (Sunday, October. 18, 2009). This year marked my fourth being involved with the cause and the first time I step out with a team of my own: Da Real Deal/Green Striders. We walked at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York and raised a grand total of $220. Our goal next year is to become pacesetters and hopefully raise $2,500. Despite the rain and the cold, I had a great time with my family/team mates. I was surprise that the Brooklyn walk was only 3 miles. It felt short but I guess I was just used to doing the walk in Central Park, which is 5 miles. In the end it all good because it all done for a great cause. I loved seeing the survivors in the pink shirts and their notes on their back with how many years they been surviving. I saw one lady with 14 and that makes me feel really good because I know what I am doing is not in vain. Every step we took today is one more birthday for some one diagnosed with breast cancer.
