I’m just going to get straight to the point. My fellow Freelancers, Coaches, Consultants, or service-based business, you need to get with times and automate your appointments. It has been a game-changer for me. However, I haven’t always been on point when it comes to this. When I first starting freelancing a web designer my clients would call me at all times.
How I used to set up calls
I would get calls late at night (pass 9) and even on the weekends. Silly me, I would answer them, so it’s totally my fault but I put a stop to it all. I stop giving out my personal cell number and set up a free online number with the outgoing message stating that all calls are by appointment only. To set up those calls though was a lot of back and forth through email.
Then an app called Tungle Me call into my life but like with many things in the tech startup world, that app was shorted lived. And that’s was a few years ago. Since then I haven’t been able to find anything to replace it. I tried several different WordPress plug-ins but nothing was cutting it until last year. While watching an Instagram Live, I discovered that an app that I only knew for accepting payments had a new (to me) feature.

That was Square, Inc., not to be confused with Squarespace (the place where you can get your own website). Square is a mobile payment app where you can invoice, accept payments, and allow clients to schedule appointments. You can use it both on the desktop and through a mobile app. It’s free to sign up for and free (meaning no monthly fee is attached) for individuals.
An individual means that your business is only you and there are no employees. If you have other members on your team, you pay. There’s your typical fee processing fee of 2.6% + $0.10. My favorite thing about the app is that I can connect it with my Instagram account so someone can book directly from my profile and it syncs up with my Google Calendar.
How to automate your appointments with Square
Let’s head over to their website (Square Appointments) to create an account. Once there, just click on the green button that says, “Sign up free”. Enter your information and hit continue.
Now don’t forget to download the app. You have access to both an Andriod and iOS, so whatever device you use, you will be all set.
