One of the biggest lessons I have I learn so far this year is that I shouldn’t wait until I have “the right” or “the best” equipment to do things that I want to do. I can make do with that I already have. The quality make not be top notch but practice make perfect. Plus it will be great to see how I will improve over time.
Last week while working on a design project I got hit with this idea. So instead of just writing it down like I usually do I decided to stop what I was doing and put my idea into motion. That’s right I decided to step on my comfort zone and do something totally different – I made my first audio recording. You can hear it on my Best of Page.
Since I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch, I don’t have the build-in microphone, so I had to be a little creative.
I had an old pair of headphones that I had for an old cell phone. They were the only pair that was recognize a as mic when plugged in to my iPod. Once you plug in your headphones and hit the record button it will start recording, if not a pop up will show saying you need a mic. If you still have the headphones that came with your ipod or if you have one of their newer models you should be good.
I used the Voice Memo App to recorded my audio. After several takes I hook my ipod into my laptop, loaded up iTunes to transfer the files. When ever I want to share audios on my blogs I used the Audio Player Plug-in. It’s the only one I’ve ever used and I like that use can customize the color if you choose. Since it only works with mp3 files I had to change the file format in iTunes and then upload the mp3 version to my site.
I had so much fun recording. I can’t wait to work on more recordings, just haven’t figured out what it will be.
Do you use audio on your blog? How and what do you use?
