Let’s welcome Nicole Clark.
Tell me about Wole Designs, LLC and how it all came about?
Wole’ (pronounced Woah lay) was originally started in middle school. Even though I played basketball, and lived a very active lifestyle I could not find clothes to complement me the way that they did the smaller women. My fashion curiosity was birthed in middle school when I would go shopping for clothing with my mom and could not find many clothes my size in the juniors department that fit my curvy figure. What would wind up happening is that I would buy women’s clothing and alter them so that they would not only fit, but flatter and create something that had not been seen on a curvy woman up until then.
Where you always interested in fashion?
I was always interested in Art. Fashion was a natural extension of that. It wasn’t until I was a little older that I found I loved dressing myself in different outfits but could not find the variety that the smaller girls could.
Did you always know that you want to have your own business?
Yes, When I was 19 I told my family that I wanted to start my own clothing line. We didn’t see eye to eye on things for a long time after that….LOL
Out of all of the pieces you have created, do you have a favorite?
My favorite is the Teal Roman dress from my spring collection. It’s airy, free, classy and sophisticated.
How do you keep inspired to keep turning out those beautiful fashions of yours?
I constantly see/read about full figured women who have given up on fashionable clothing. I want them to know that they have options!
What’s one lesson you have learned along the way?
Always work to be prepared! You never know when its time for your opportunity to appear.
If you can give one piece of advice, what would it be?
If you have the courage and a passion for something do not stop until you see it come to pass. Everything that you want in your life is located inside of your destiny. That’s one main reason NOT to give up on your dreams!
