I think most individuals shy away from using WordPress (WP) not because of the cost associated with it, because there is a free version – WordPress.com, but because of fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear that they need to have advance technical knowledge. I am here to dispel those myths.
Before you go and say, “…but you are a web designer and been working with WordPress for seven years, of course you will say it easy to use”. Wait a minute; let me tell you my story. My very first web page ever was on a free site. There was a form that you filled out. It asked everything from what color do you want your background to be, what’s the title of your page, etc. Then you hit the publish button. It does it magic and your page was created for you. It was my high school buddies that introduce me to HTML and I fell in love. Then I decided to make a career out of building websites. And like with anything as years went on I had to learn to adapt. It’s much faster to get a website up and running using a CMS (Content Management System) like WP v.s. writing the code by hand. I have invested time in learning all I need to know so I can easily break it down for others.
I know WP is not the only tool you can use but it is a great tool. It has comes a long way since its birth back in 2003. So much as changed for the better but the basics are still the same. Yes there are other alternatives that are a drag and drop method of building a website. I am not here to deter you away from checking those out. I just want you to give WP a fair chance. With anything you have options. You can hire someone like a web designer or virtual assistant who specialize working with WordPress to help you out. Or you can seek out a good webinar, e-course or tutorial that can help you navigated your way around.
